John P. Barletta, M.D

 

Dr. Barletta, a summa cum laude graduate of Wayne State Medical School, completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Florida. His fellowship in cornea & refractive surgery was performed at Duke University. His post fellowship work was done at Montreal Children's Hospital at McGill University. He is board certified in ophthalmology and is LASIK & Excimer laser certified. He has been with Huron Ophthalmology, P.C. since 1995. Dr. Barletta specializes in cornea, refractive surgery and cataracts. 

Dr. Barletta was the first ophthalmologist at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital to perform multi-focal and toric intra-ocular lens implantation. Other firsts include: amniotic membrane surface restoration, limbal stem cell transplantation (autologous), DSAEK corneal transplantation, and pediatric cataract surgery with IOL implantation in children as young as two years of age.

His most recent focus is on utilization of new modalities for dry eye treatment, and artificial cornea transplantation in eyes not fit for traditional cornea transplantation.
